Distractions are everywhere when you work from home, and they can derail an important project or make focusing on work nearly impossible. If you share your home with others, those people can often be the cause of said distractions.
One of the best pieces of advice I got from a friend and fellow remote worker is to hang a do-not-disturb sign outside of your home office. That way, everyone else knows when you are working on an important project.
Equally as important as having a do-not-disturb sign is knowing when to use it. One of the many benefits of remote work is the added flexibility. So reserve the sign for your most important meetings or times of day. If you have kids, get them involved in helping decorate your do-not-disturb sign.
